Maria Callas is the best singer to ever exist in the female human instrument musicphere. She had the ultimate voice that sold itself. Today's artists are good, but they will never be amazing. Maria has mastered so many vocal techniques that today's artists can't master. Singers like Mary J Blige and Christina Aguilera only sound good because of the collaboration and the music that goes along with their vocals. Maria didn't need any music nor instruments to back up her human instrument because she was "It" in terms of vocals.
