UPDATE: Jay is no joke. Mr. Scobie reports that he recalls discussing this with Jay at the Old Town Ale House in Chicago in 1992.

Believe it or not, it's been done, to an extent. There's a club in Denver called the Church which is similar, although it's been years since I've been there, so who knows what it's like these days....
