My most embarrassing meeting gaffe: I was in a senior staff meeting one time, and I drifted away and started singing softly. I don't know what it was. Maybe Monkey Gone to Heaven. People around the table looked at me, and I said something like: "What?" And one of them said: "Can you wait until the meeting's over to sing?" I wasn't aware I was. In my defense: it was right after Jonah was born, we were new parents, and we weren't sleeping. My work colleagues were lucky I was showing up at all, even showered and dressed.
You're not alone! I'm the same. I think that a large part being successful in the corporate world is the genetically-bestowed (or carefully-trained) ability to sit still. It's far from natural.
